The suitability of a valve for a particular application is decided by the materials used in relation to the conveyed fluid as well as its mechanical design.

Learn the correct steps and tips for selecting the correct type of industrial valve for your application. Selecting the valve generally follows the below 7 steps:

Step 1

According to the usage of the valves in the device and pipe lines, to determine its working condition, like working medium, working pressure and working temperature, etc.

Step 2

As per the working medium, working environment and users’ request, to determine the sealing performance. Such as district heating valves .

Step 3

The type and drive method of the valve is determined according to the purpose of the valve. Such as shut-off valves, regulating valves, safety valves, and other special valves. Driving method such as worm gear, electric, pneumatic, etc.

Step 4

According to the nominal parameters of the valves, the nominal pressure and nominal size of the valve should be determined to match the installed process pipelines.

The valve is installed in the process pipeline, so the working condition should be consistent with the design choice of the process pipeline.

After the standard system and the pipe nominal pressure are determined, the nominal pressure, nominal size and valve design and manufacturing standard of the valve can be determined.

Some valves determine the nominal size of the valve based on the flow or displacement through the valve during the rated time of the medium.

Step 5

According to the actual operating conditions and the nominal size of the valve, valve end connections face to the pipe is determined, such as flange, weld, clip or thread, etc.

Step 6

The structure of the valve type is selected as per the installation position of the valve, the installation space, and the nominal size, such as dark rod gate valve, angle cut-off valve, fixed ball valve, fully welded ball valve, etc.

Step 7

According to the characteristics of the medium, working pressure and working temperature, the material of the valve body and the inner part is correctly and reasonably selected.
